We now have access to a loft space event venue that can cater for up to 300. We can do canapes, drinks, full menu service as well as organise bands, magicians and other entertainment. It is a unique great value space that we already have two bookings for. Contact us for a viewing and details.

Why our wine list is so good…

Matt from The Roast tells us why his wines are so good.

I just happen to know the guy who is the Head Sommelier at The Dorchester Hotel. I asked him to source some really good wines for The Roast and he did. And that’s how we got to have a wine list sourced by the Head Sommelier at The Dorchester.

We get the wines through Liberty Wines London – I don’t think anyone else in the North uses them so that makes our wine list even more special. Liberty Wines win loads of accolades – they were voted European Wine Merchant of the Year at 2011’s Sommelier Wine Awards and picked up 4 trophies and 8 Gold medals at the recent Decanter World Wine Awards.

We’ve got 3 red wines and 6 whites through Liberty, along with a Pinot Grigio Rosata that’s very popular with the ladies. There’s a delicious dry white Italian house wine, Ponte Pietra White from the Venice region, an excellent Alpha Zeta Veneto Pinot Grigio, a South African Sangoma Chenin Blanc and a Sauvignon Blanc (Tinpot Hut pictured) and a Hellfire Bay Chardonnay from Australia. Our Montepulciano d’Abruzzo red really pulls some punches too!

Saturday day opening.

We are now closed during the day on Saturdays until the lovely Summer returns and people can sit on the terrace. Sundays are roasting as usual 12pm-6pm.

As winter draws in, Sundays are about kicking back, eating some great food and catching up with mates.

We’ll provide the big comfy sofas, Sunday papers and our signature giant Yorkshires – you just need to get a few mates together and roll up and enjoy.

We get our locally raised pork and beef from Setchfield’s butchers in Harrogate, roast it to perfection and serve it with huge, fluffy, crispy Yorkshire Puddings as big as your plate, roast potatoes and loads of healthy seasonal veg and slather it with gravy as good as your gran’s.

Oh yes, and nearly forgot – a pint of two of Peroni or Stella Black with your roast, perhaps even a creamy cappucino after to see you on your way for a wintery riverside walk before sunset. Sunday bliss…
